Grizzly Bears @ Yellowstone

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Emily and Morgan couldn’t get enough of the snow…even though there wasn’t much on the ground.  Here are my faves from Morgan trying to pick a snowball fight.

E & M {First Trip to Yellowstone}

Emily and Morgan arrived on a Friday morning and were anxious to go out exploring. We started out by driving to Big Sky via the Gallatin gateway. Much to their surprise, it was snowing in the higher elevations of Big Sky and they were soooooo excited to see snow.  Wait until they come back at Christmas.:-)

On Saturday we went to Yellowstone National Park (YNP) and were joined by my very first friend here in Montana, Nick.  We had a lot of fun and we saw everything from snow in the higher elevations to TWO grizzly bears. Nick said that in 10 years of coming to YNP on various occasions, he had never seen a grizzly bear, so the girls thought it was really special to have seen TWO in one day!

Morgan couldn’t help but start a snowball fight with anyone she could. Nick retrieved the gauntlet on that one, but was nice enough to throw left handed.

At the end of the day, Nick introduced us to the Boiling River, where hot springs are spilling into the Yellowstone River. It was quite the experience to put a bathing suit on when it was 42 degrees outside. Then walk down to the river and wade into a hot/cold river. We finally found just the right spot to sit down and soak in nature’s very own hot tub. We were so warm when we got out, that just a towel wrapped around us, even in 42 degree weather, was enough to keep warm.

It was a really awesome way to spend my birthday.
